How many people still use IE6?

Here is a graph prepared from the W3Schools.com data for browser usage, with actuals from 2007 and 2008 and extrapolated into 2009. Last month it dipped to 19.6%, which is still a sizable amount of users, though probably including a fair number of frustrated Web Designers pulling their hair out. The predicted course (simply using Excel extrapolation) shows it disappearing in October 2010. For any of you having difficulty running multiple Internet Explorer versions on the same machine, have a quick read of an earlier post.

To update, some of the current statistics suggest the extrapolated graph above to be broadly indicative of IE6 levels, with levels now (Dec ’09) put at between 10-12%. I suspect the laying to rest of IE6 in Oct 2010 may well not happen but we can live in hope.
